*SAED IS PIVOTAL FOR WEALTH CREATION -ADEGOKE*
The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke, has told the 202l Batch B stream 2 corps members that Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) is pivotal for wealth creation and as such they should prioritize it even as they go through the service year.
This he said at the exhibition/closing ceremony of the in-camp training of the SAED program at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede on Friday. He harped on the need for corps members to take their trainings seriously as they move out to their respective places of primary assignment.
Adegoke spoke about several corps members who through their zeal for acquiring skills as a plus to their already bagged degree, ventured into various skills and have excelled in them. He spoke on the significance of learning a skill as the white collar jobs are no longer available in the country.
Earlier, Mrs Bosede Olowo, the Head of SAED commended the corps members for taking the in-camp training seriously, encouraging them to harness the training opportunities provided by the second phase of the training namely the post camp training.
She enjoined them to shine the light irrespective of where they find themselves. She urged them to ensure that they utilize their training to create employment opportunities for others.
The ceremony also featured an Inter-platoon skills competition, testimonies from graduands of the in-camp training and exhibition of the products produced by corps members during the training.
The competition was judged based on the creativity of the competitors, their skill, ingenuity, the colour combination, beauty, neatness, finishing as well as aesthetics of their products.
The competition was preceded over by a panel of Judges including Mr. Mutiu Agboola, the Chief Judge, Mrs. Nike Abiona, Mr. Egenti Okwudili and Mrs. Agbaje Florence. The competition was in six skills, namely: Bead Making, Leather Works, Tye and Dye, Food Processing, Tailoring and Knitting. The first, second and third place winners in the six skills went home with prizes as a way of encouraging them in their chosen skills.
