AN ATTITUDE OF RESPONSIBILITY IS IMPORTANT TO BREAKING THE CHAIN OF CORONAVIRUS - Ohuneni

The NCDC Inspection and Monitoring Officer, Mr Steven Ohuneni, has told the 2021 Batch C Stream 1 corps members that the safety of their health lies entirely in the responsible decisions and actions they take.

He made this known during the COVID-19 sensitisation and inauguration of the COVID-19 task force at the NYSC Osun State Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Tuesday.

The sensitisation had the State Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka, Camp Director, Mrs Funmi Okundaye, Camp Commandant, Captain O. Oyekanmi, and other principal camp officials in attendance.

Ohuneni enlightened the corps members on the various transmission mediums and risk reduction measures.

"The deadly virus is transmitted from an infected person to others through droplets deposited on surfaces, objects, and devices ", he said.
Mr Ohuneni further charged the members to prioritize their health and not put themselves and others in danger.

According to him, it's important to observe general hygiene of regular handwashing, coughing into the elbow, appropriate use of the nose masks, sanitising surfaces, avoid touching the face and nose, and limiting social gatherings.

He allayed fears of the corps members regarding the COVID-19 vaccine and urged them to take the vaccines as soon as possible to limit the severity of the virus when contracted.

Correspondingly, the COVID-19 Monitoring and Enforcement Committee and Task Force were inaugurated and decorated respectively by the State Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka. She charged the members of the committee to ensure strict compliance to the protocols by all course participants.

The Monitoring and Enforcement Committee has the state coordinator as chairman and other principal officers and heads of collaborating agencies as members with the head of publicity and protocol as secretary while the Task Force comprises of platoon leaders, head of platoon inspector, staff advisers of the religious bodies on camp, and the Resident Officer 2.

She urged the corps members to cooperate with the Task Force so the safety of all can be guaranteed on camp. She warned against flouting the protocol rules as anyone caught will be severely dealt with.
