SC COMMENDS VOLUNTARY SERVICES RENDERED BY CORPS MEMBERS

Corps members have been urged to take responsibility for their lives and do their bid in addressing the needs of their immediate environment.

Mrs. Winifred Ngozi Shokpeka made this known while commissioning the room improvements made by the 2021 Batch C Stream 1 male corps members in rooms 1, 2 and 3 of the Male Hostel Block F at the NYSC Osun State Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Saturday.

Mrs Winifred Shokpeka, while addressing the male corps members, stated that she appreciated their efforts which occasioned her personal appearance to commission the project.

"I'm particularly happy that you corps members who have only met yourselves recently, are working harmoniously towards a commendable cause. This awakening of youthful vanguards of change signals that there's hope for this country, " she said.

To encourage their efforts, she pledged to write a personally-signed Letter of Commendation for each corps member in the three rooms.

The Block Governor, Ikiotere Ayebatonye Otuma, thanked God for the gift of the NYSC that served as a unifying point for members of each room to encounter and work harmoniously together.

He explained that they were motivated to undertake the room improvement projects in order to write their names in gold in the annals of the Scheme in the State. He said they had noticed the several projects, innovations and renovations being carried out by the management of the Scheme all in a bid to make them comfortable and felt they should reciprocate these gestures by setting the pace for others to emulate.

According to the Governor, nation building is not the sole responsibility of the NYSC alone but that all have a role to play and that must start right from the orientation. He called on other corps members to also look inwards and ensure they leave their footprints in the sands of time.

Room 1 presented a portrait to the State Coordinator and adorned their room by repainting its walls and making several murals like room 2 did.

Meanwhile, corps member Akpoturu Wisdom of Room 3 went an extra mile by personally upgrading two windows in the room he shared with other male corps members to an aluminium type. This is in addition to the general wall repainting done in collaboration with his roommates.
