SC CHARGES CORPS MEMBERS TO GET A GOOD GRASP OF THEIR SKILL AS IN-CAMP TRAINING ENDS

The State Coordinator, Mrs Shokpeka has charged the 2021 Batch C Stream 1 corps members to make sure to utilize all skills learned as the SAED  In-camp training ended.

She said this while delivering her address at the closing ceremony at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Friday.
She started off by telling them that the reason for learning is in order to impact the society positively and become a problem solver. She encouraged the members to hone their skills, stressing that the more they work at their skills, the better they will become. According to her, skills acquired is never a waste and whatever learnt should be properly harnessed even after the Orientation Course.

Shokpeka enjoined the members to enlist for the post camp training so they can become professionals at their chosen skills. She further stated that "the Scheme, in order to alleviate the suffering caused by unemployment has partnered with several bodies to make acquiring a skill attractive and interesting for corps members.

" I urge you to continue your training so you can become experts in your chosen skill and thereby become a solution to the society's challenge of lack of white collar jobs"

" don't be deceived that there are jobs out there. It is better to err on the side of caution, by acquiringskills and profit therein. The skills you pick up during the service year y can be useful to you even while working at getting yourself a white-collar job. I therefore urge to be wise", she concluded.

She equally expressed her unreserved gratitude to all who participated actively in the program including corps medical doctors who did not only learn a skill but also participated in the interplatoon skills competition and made the program a success, stating that they are now equipped to face the world with their skills.

The event was characterised by a display of products made by corps members in different craft category ranging from Tie and Dye, Tailoring, Auto Gele, Leather works, Food processing, Bead making and other skills.

Afterwards, the winners of the competition  were compensated with amazing prices which will serve as a motivation to be better in the crafts.
