KNOW, FOLLOW AND LIVE BY THE RULES, SHOKPEKA ADMONISHES STAFF
The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka has admonished the members of staff to know, follow and live by the rules as due diligence demands.
She made the statement at the general staff meeting on Wednesday at the NYSC Secretariat Conference room in Osogbo.
According to Shokpeka, the meeting hinged on the need to step down the resolutions reached at the 2022 Annual Management Conference which held in Abuja, in order to keep staffers abreast of happenings and changes in the scheme and to help beef up best practises among members of staff.
Shokpeka in her opening remarks urged staffers to always ensure they are steps ahead of the corps members in terms of knowledge and versatility in the Scheme's modus operandi. She charged them to be conversant with changes and trends so as not to be caught off guard by unscrupulous elements.
Shokpeka further highlighted some of the management's decisions to ensure the training and retraining of staffers in the Secretariat and the introduction of knowledge sharing to enhance productivity and versatility of officials across board.
She admonished officials to steer clear of any act capable of not only tarnishing the good reputation of the Scheme but also of their image and reputation. She urged them to assist corps members within the ambit of the rules of the Scheme and not risk their jobs and reputation.
"I want you to avoid financial and sexual issues capable of marring your name and that of the Scheme. Remember you have a family to protect and your children look up to you as role models. Therefore, shun anything capable of marring the heroic impression these young ones have of you.
"our Director General is a welfarist who prioritises the welfare of staff and corps members but has zero tolerance for corruption, extortion, and negative vices such as aiding and abetting of evasion of Service", she said.
Shokpeka, who took time to appreciate Heads of Branches, Units, field officers and all members of staff individually for their effective service delivery, called on them to put in greater efforts towards taking the Scheme to a greater height in the new year. She called on them to continue to endear the Scheme in the hearts of the corps members, their families and the general public through their warm disposition, comportment and effective service delivery.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Director Community Development Service and Special Project, Mr Felix Ayibiowu who was a participant in the just concluded Annual Management Conference enlightened Staff on the various lectures delivered at the AMC.
Ayibiowu gave a brief of the various lectures touching on the different Branches and Units and the evergreen lessons embedded in each. He also highlighted the various innovations and changes introduced to some of the Scheme's programmes for greater impact and effectiveness such as the Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers which is being expanded for wider reach and greater impact.
He went further to acquaint the house with some of the resolutions reached at the Conference. The meeting ended on a joyful note as staff were seen recommitting themselves to keep the flag of the Scheme flying higher than before. They also pledged their allegiance to assisting the Coordinator see to the completion of the ongoing Hostel Building to ensure that the State meets up with the set target of 5000 capacity Orientation Camp Accommodation for Corps Members.
