STATE COORDINATOR DEBRIEFS CORPS MEMBERS, CHARGES THEM TO MAINTAIN GOOD CONDUCT

The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka has called on the 2022 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to the State and those dislodged from Lagos State to maintain the good conduct they have exhibited throughout the three weeks Orientation Programme as they proceed to their places of Primary Assignment.
Shokpeka gave the charge while debriefing the Corps Members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Monday.

Shokpeka rated the Corps Members conduct highly calling them the 'Excellent Set' and urged them to keep up the good work that earned them the name. She commended their commitment, team spirit and active participation in all camp activities.

She congratulated the corps members for being resilient and enduring throughout their stay in the Orientation Camp. According to her, the Orientation has been a beautiful race and very soon they all will be leaving the Camp. She proceeded further to mention that there will be a general sanitation on Tuesday morning in preparation to receive the next Batch of Corps Members.

Speaking on Security, Shokpeka urged the Members to remain security conscious as they travel to their respective places of Primary Assignment or State of redeployment. She stressed on the need for the Members to avoid night journeys.

"The Management of the Scheme frowns at night journeys because of its inherent dangers. I urge you therefore to adhere to the advice and words of the Director General. Do not put yourself in harm's way", she said.

Shokpeka also informed the Corps Members that the Management has mandated that all course participants are to vacate the Camp on Tuesday after the Closing Ceremony. This, according to her is to enable the fumigation and decontamination of the Camp environment ahead of the Stream II Orientation Course.

She informed the Corps Members that arrangements have been made for vehicles to convey them to their local government of posting. She admonished them to settle down and avoid inducing their rejection or lobbying for a reposting.

Speaking on the second and third cardinal programmes of the Scheme, Shokpeka charged them to be dutiful and responsible abiding by the work ethics of their places of Primary Assignment. She warned them against insubordination and truancy stating that impromptu inspections will be done from time to time to ensure Corps Members are on ground.

She also stated that it is mandatory for the Corps Members to record at least three attendance at their Community Development Service Group meetings every month to qualify for biometric clearance.

Shokpeka reminded the Members of the importance of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Post Camp training. She admonished them to display the same level of interest they exhibited during the In-camp training in the Post Camp training. She told them not to let go of their SAED training but rather continue it and embrace it wholly.

"You must note that your CDS and SAED hold on the same day, so you must endeavour to maximize that day for both activities. You can improve your competence in your Skills training by utilizing weekends for more training", she advised.

She concluded by admonishing Corps Members to be patient, diligent and accept their postings in good faith, willing to work in any place they are posted to, as the NYSC has their best interest at heart.

Other highlights of the debriefing include the introduction of the Zonal and Local Government Inspectors to the Corps Members.
