YOU HAVE 10 MONTHS 2 WEEKS ON THE FIELD, DO NOT EVADE SERVICE - SHOKPEKA TELLS PCMS

The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka, has enjoined the 2022 Batch A Stream II Prospective Corps Members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State to take the service year seriously. She enjoined them make up their minds to serve well as the service year is made up of just ten months and two weeks on the field. 
Shokpeka disclosed this while briefing the PCMs on Tuesday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede. She took them down memory lane reminding them of the reasons behind the creation of the Scheme and the mobilisation of graduate youths under 30 years of age for the national service. 
She posited that the one year service should not be considered a waste of time but rather see it as a privilege to reach out and impact lives. Speaking on the brevity of the service year, Shokpeka outlined that the one year mandatory service is made up of 3 weeks of training called Orientation Course to prepare the members for service, 10months and 2weeks of active service in the field called Primary Assignment, Community Development Service which also include the Winding Up and Passing Out and lastly 3 weeks terminal leave.  
Based on this, Shokpeka called on the Corps Members to settle down for the service year and shun every act of evasion of service. 

She extensively took the members through the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC Scheme, highlighting the objectives for each and the benefits accrued in active participation in all the programmes. 
Speaking on the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, Shokpeka implored the PCMs to take the project seriously and not to look down on any of its components as the Scheme has painstakingly put them together for the benefit of the corps members and the people. 

Shokpeka charged the members to believe in themselves and also believe in the Scheme which has their welfare as her topmost priority. She urged them to desist from reflect this believe in their actions and disposition toward others and the programmes of the Scheme. 

She charged them to keep the camp environment clean and ensure wastes are trashed accordingly without littering the environment. She called on them to maintain good hygiene and clean surroundings at all times in order to stay healthy.

She also called for the right and positive use of the social media as a platform to spread love, unity and integration. She urged them to see themselves as leaders who the younger generation look up to and should therefore show them the right way and path to follow.

The briefing featured the introduction of the heads of assignments and collaborating agencies on camp.
