ABDULWAHAB BRIEFS PCMs, APPOINTS CORPS CAMP DIRECTORS

The State Coordinator, NYSC Osun State, Mrs. Abdulwahab Olayinka has briefed Prospective Corps Members on the prerequisite to carry on with service in their service-long year.

Abdulwahab made this known during the briefing of the 2022 Batch B Stream 2 PCMs and Introduction of Principal Officers at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Sunday.

Abdulwahab enlightened the members on the four cardinal programmes of the Scheme stressing that the Community Development Service, CDS, is important as part of the activities Corps members are expected to be engaged in after the orientation programme, alongside their primary assignment.

She said the CDS “seeks to identify, co-ordinate and utilise all available human and material resources within the scheme for the optimum benefit of local communities and Nigeria as a whole,” and Corps Members must ensure they are dedicated to it.

Speaking on post-camping, Abdulwahab said after the Orientation and induction course, Corps Members will be posted to places of Primary Assignment under an employer in the Public or Private sector, stressing that the Primary Assignment is intended to familiarise and internalise Corps Members with the work environment in order to prepare them for gainful employment after service.

She further stated that the NYSC has put in place a stipulated amount as the value for a day’s meal for each Corps Member, saying that it caters for their breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

In a bid to create a link between the management of NYSC Osun State and Prospective Corps Members, Abdulwahab said that three PCMs have emerged as Corps Camp Directors after a critical screening of the ten representatives presented by head of platoons.

The three Corps Camp Directors are: Michael Morris Iyaji with code number 3133, a graduate of Economics from the Federal University of Wukari, Taraba State and hails from Cross Rivers State; Alegbe Jemilatu with code number 3336, graduate of Physics and Electronics from the Federal Polytechnic Auchi and hails from Edo State; and Emediong Ndedu with code number 3500, from Akwa-Ibom State and a graduate of Botany from the Akwa-Ibom State University.

The leadership of the Corps camp Directors will last for five camp days respectively from July 25, 2022 to August 9, 2022.

Highlights of the Briefing aside the introduction of principal officers, include: the introduction and presentation of platoon inspectors, drill instructors and man 'o' War instructors for each of the platoons.
