State Coordinator Briefs PCMs, Emphasizes Importance of the Scheme and Skill Acquisition 

The State Coordinator NYSC Osun State, Mr. Agbor Ndoma Odim has briefed the 2023 Batch A Stream II Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) today on the importance of the Orientation Course and merits of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program (SAED). 
The briefing took place at the Parade Ground of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede and had in attendance the Camp Director, Mrs. Funmi Okundaye, Camp Commandant, Capt. Oyekanmi Olawale and other Camp officials.
Agbor stressed on the purpose of the Orientation Course in preparing PCMs for the service year. 

"The essence of the Orientation Course is to prepare you for your one year mandatory service to the nation and to equip you to make meaningful impacts in the host community you find yourself" he said. 

He encouraged the PCMs to fully participate in the SAED program which was launched in 2012 to equip Corps Members with entrepreneurial skills and knowledge to curb the rising unemployment rate in the country.

"The goal is for you all to be employers and not just job seekers. There are a lot of talents and skills on display in SAED so ensure you pick one that best aligns with your needs and strengths." He charged. 

He then highlighted the administrative structure of the NYSC Scheme, right from the National Directorate, to the six Area offices: South South, South East, South West, North Central, North West and North East, the State Secretariat down to the local government offices, for the Corps Members information. 

He then assured the PCMs of the reliability of the medical facilities and personnel in the Camp, informing them of his instructions to send any PCM with medical ailments to a hospital if the cases persists beyond four hours. 

He also acknowledged the presence of dislodged PCMs from Lagos State and encouraged unity and team work amongst all PCMs regardless of their states of deployment as, according to him, NYSC is one nationwide. 

"We believe in teamwork and it remains one of the core values of NYSC” he said.

Speaking on social media usage, Agbor charged the PCMs to use their social media space wisely avoiding every form of negativity and rumour mongering.

Agbor equally enlightened the PCMs on the other cardinal programmes of the Scheme, types of allowance Corps Members are entitled to, channel of communication, the various Camp committees, religious activities on Camp, among others. 

Rounding off his address, he wished all PCMs success ahead of their swearing in tomorrow, Friday, April 28, 2023. The briefing also featured the introduction of heads of committees and heads of collaborating agencies.
