Course State Coordinator Briefs PCMs, Emphasizes Discipline for a Successful Orientation Course
The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim has charged the over 2000 Prospective Corps Members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State to obey Camp rules and regulations as the Scheme's management frowns at every act of indiscipline and insubordination.
Agbor gave the charge while briefing the Prospective Corps Members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Thursday. He welcomed the 2023 Batch B Stream 2 Members on behalf of the Director General, Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed and the Director Southwest Area, Mr Oluwole Amusan.
He highlighted the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC and provided a detailed overview of Camp operations. Clear guidelines were laid out, underscoring the pivotal role of discipline for a successful camping experience.
Furthermore, He highlighted the importance of the Scheme and the service year to youth development, he encouraged them to take the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program seriously as it would help them contribute meaningfully to the society and also make them successful employers of labour after their service year.
The topic of allowances was addressed, with Agbor informing PCMs of the payment schedule and amounts, emphasizing wise spending. He gave them assurance that all these will be paid into as at when due and advised them to spend it wisely.
With a nod to responsible social media use, the State Coordinator urged PCMs to collaborate harmoniously, ensuring a memorable and transformative orientation course. The call for discipline echoed throughout, serving as a guiding principle for PCMs as they embark on this significant journey.
Agbor emphasized on Security consciousness. He also urged all PCMs to be security conscious as security is paramount and is everyone's business, urging PCMs to know their roommates and follow hostel inspectors guidance. He announced the introduction of a registration procedure to support the initiative. He also encouraged them to participate fully in all camp and interplatoon activities.
Healthcare was given prominence, with Mr. Agbor encouraging PCMs to prioritize their well-being and utilize the Camp Clinic. His words exhibited the organization's concern for the PCMs' health. He advised PCMs to use the Camp Clinic for medical needs and cautioned against self-medication.
Mr. Agbor emphasized the value of punctuality. He highlighted the dedication of camp officials and requested discipline from the corps members. He provided his contact information for complaints and wished them a successful camping experience.
Conclusively, the AD PPRU, Mrs. Funmi Okundaye enlightened prospective corps members about the right way to put on their uniforms for various events, and also warned them against defacing the NYSC uniform. She admonished them to strictly follow the outlined dress code for each activity on Camp as anyone caught wrongly dressed will be dealt with in accordance with the NYSC Act and Bye-laws which have been given to them during their documentation.
