Governor Adeleke Charges Corps Members to Explore New Horizons, as NYSC Osun Inducts 2300 Corps Members into Service

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has charged the 2023 Batch C Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State to explore new horizons and consider ways to give back to their communities. He stressed the value of building lasting friendships and networks that would offer crucial support throughout their service year. 

Speaking at the opening and Swearing-in Ceremony of the Batch which held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede today, Governor Adeleke emphasized on the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program as a powerful tool for self-development and empowerment and charged the members to take the program seriously. 

 Governor Adeleke while extending a warm welcome to all present, emphasized the paramount importance of the NYSC orientation program highlighting how the program equips Corps Members with essential skills and values, transforming them into responsible citizens and future leaders.

Governor Adeleke posited that the inauguration of the Corps Members is a symbol of new beginnings and of their commitment to the country, marking the start of a transformative journey that will not only shape their individual lives but also contribute to the unity and development of the nation.  

The Governor's message resonated with a call to dream big, work diligently, abide by rules, and embrace the ideals of peace, friendship, honesty, and virtue. He painted a vivid picture of the beauty and serenity of Osun State, urging the Corps Members to consider the possibility of remaining in the State and enjoying its tranquil environment and the warm hospitality of its people.

Meanwhile, Mr. Agbor Ndoma Obim, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, in his introductory address, highlighted the profound significance of the swearing-in ceremony for the 2023 Batch C Stream 1 Orientation Course. 

He noted that a total of 2,300 Corps Members had been deployed to the State, comprising 580 males, 770 females, and an additional 950 dislodged from Lagos State.

Agbor encouraged the Corps Members to approach the Orientation Course with an open heart and unwavering dedication to community development. He described the advantages of serving in Osun State, highlighting the hospitality of its people, rich culture, deep-rooted history, and abundant opportunities to establish great entrepreneurial skills. 

He also reminded the Corps Members of the NYSC's core vision, which centers on fostering national unity and integration. According to him, all programs of the NYSC are geared towards the achievement of this goal. 

Speaking on the use of the social media, Agbor urged the members to exercise responsible use of social media platforms in line with the organization's goals and principles. 

In his closing remarks, Agbor charged the Corps Members to rise to the challenges of the service year, embrace the opportunities, and make a positive impact during their service year. He emphasized that the journey of national service starts today and wished all Corps Members a successful, fruitful, and fulfilling experience.

The National Pledge and NYSC Oath of Allegiance were administered by the Chief Judge of Osun State, Hon. Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, represented by Honorable Justice Maurice Olufisayo Okediya. 

The ceremony featured a display of grit and strength in a thug of war and a colourful cultural display by the NYSC dance troupe. Aside his Excellency, the event also had in attendance the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; the Head of Service, Mr Samuel Ayanleye Aina; the Chairman NYSC State Governing Board, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan; PS Min. of Youth Affairs, Mrs Taiwo Oladunjoye; representatives of the host Royal Father, the Timi of Edeland and service Chiefs in the State; among others.
