Governor Adeleke Opens NYSC Orientation Course, Hails Corps Members' Contribution to National Development
In a grand ceremony today, the Executive Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, extolled the significant role of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in fostering national unity and development. Addressing a gathering at the Swearing-in and official opening of the 2024 Batch A Stream II Orientation Course, Governor Adeleke emphasized the invaluable contribution of Corps Members to societal progress.
Governor Adeleke, who presided over the ceremony, conveyed his congratulations to the Corps Members, acknowledging the pivotal phase they are embarking upon in their lives. He expressed confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the development of Osun State and Nigeria at large. Represented by the Commissioner of Youth Affairs, Honourable Moshood Olalekan, the Governor commended the Corps Members for their commitment to serving the nation.
During his address, Honourable Moshood Olalekan underscored the importance of embracing the local culture and community engagement, urging Corps Members to immerse themselves in the rich heritage of the people. He reassured them of the State's unwavering commitment to their safety and welfare throughout their service year, affirming, "Your safety is paramount."
Furthermore, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr. Agbor Ndoma Obim, welcomed the distinguished guests and the 1869 Corps Members registered as at the time of the ceremony, along with the 644 Corps Members dislodged from Lagos for the Orientation Course. He emphasized the transformative nature of the service year, urging Corps Members to approach it with dedication and a sense of responsibility.
Mr. Agbor highlighted the awards program designed to recognize outstanding performance during the Orientation Course and throughout the service year, emphasizing their significance as lifelong assets. The ceremony also saw the administration of the oath of service by the Honorable Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, represented by Honorable Justice Lawrence Olawale Arojo.
